First Presbyterian Church - Wausau Free Clinic Annual Report for 2024

This past year has been one of progress and success for the Wausau Free Clinic. It marks our 2nd full year of operation in the Community Partners Campus. Our services continue to grow in comprehensiveness and quality. In addition to provider and nursing visits, we are now able to offer our low income, uninsured patients access to a broad array of no-charge ancillary and support services, including: medications, labs, imaging, diabetic education, physical therapy, and mental health evaluation and counseling. These services are provided by our small but dedicated staff, our incredible core of 40+ volunteers, and the generosity of area health systems and organizations, which donate their services. Highlighting some significant accomplishments:

• Our patient panel has grown to over 1,400 individuals (an increase of 65% over 2023).

• We served 856 unduplicated patients (including 550 new) in over 2,000 patient service interactions (up 43% over 2023).

• We dispensed in-house 1,360 prescriptions with retail value of $895,493.

• There were 2,641 lab tests performed free of charge by Marshfield Clinic valued at $158,111; 80 imaging studies were performed valued at $50,000.

• Volunteers provided over 6,000 hours of service valued at nearly $500,000.

• We achieved “Silver Standards of Excellence” certification status from the Wisconsin Association of Free & Charitable Clinics and the National Association of Free & Charitable Clinics.

• Approximately 78% of our patients are members of racial and ethnic minority groups, and 68% are between the ages of 18 and 64.

• We project we will significantly underspend our approved budget of $251,731 (100% covered by grants and donations). For every $1.00 secured in grants and donations, we receive $7.00 in in-kind goods and volunteer services.

• First Presbyterian Church contributed invaluable financial management, HR/benefits administration, and general liability insurance coverage, for which we are extremely grateful.

• We reorganized our Community Advisory Council to focus on partnerships and completed a detailed strategic plan identifying ambitious goals.
